Town Hall Meeting Notes

The Neighborhood Association Town Hall Meeting notes are now available for download! This month’s topics for discussion included:
- Safety/Crime Prevention: Officer McDaniels reviewed the document “Contact Numbers for High Point” and discussed scenarios why a resident of High Point may call 911 and reasons why a resident may call High Point Security (206.920.9640).
- Seattle Youth Tutoring Program: Nancy Folsom discussed the Seattle Youth Tutoring Program and the need for volunteers this summer.
- Open Space Association: Bill Drummond reviewed the rules that the Open Space Association Board have created for the open spaces and parks at High Point.
- Emergency Preparedness: Cindi Barker from Morgan Community Association (MoCA), talked about the emergency preparedness programs that MoCA and other West Seattle neighborhood/community associations have created to help neighbors connect with each other.
- Youth Blessing Ceremony: In 2007, Mr. Noy organized the first Youth Blessing Ceremony, bringing together High Point youth of all religions and ethnic backgrounds. Another event is planned for June 27th at the pond.
- Commons Park Opening: Julie Shaffer from Seattle Housing Authority announced the Commons Park opening extravaganza on July 4th from 5pm to 8pm.
- Block Watch Captains: Jennifer Cobb, HPNA Trustee and Welcoming/Communication Chair, talked about the High Point Block Watch program and the need for involvement from the community.
