High Point is a 100-acre master planned community with a beautiful mix of homes, 20 acres of parks, playgrounds and services. Wide, tree-lined sidewalks and front porch architecture encourage walking and make it easy to meet your neighbors. A gorgeous library and a community health center already exist with a community recreation center and neighborhood shopping on the drawing boards. Neighbors also enjoy access to the peaceful Longfellow Creek legacy trail system. Opening in November 2009, the award winning, state-of-the art High Point Neighborhood Center serves as the catalyst for the creation of this strong and diverse community at High Point. Offered here are multilingual programs and activities focused on building relationships among neighbors, nurturing youth, bolstering family strength and affirming diversity.
High Point is also Seattle’s first and only Built Green™ neighborhood. An innovative natural drainage system uses natural processes to filter and clean rainwater on its way to Longfellow Creek. Landscaping uses native plantings chosen for their hardiness and low water needs. The first porous pavement street in Washington, plus porous pavement walkways allow rainwater and run-off to filter into the ground naturally. All homes meet a minimum of Built Green 3-Star standards, with many achieving 4-Star level and ENERGY STAR® certification.
Located in a true old-Seattle style neighborhood, West Seattle has shops, parks, playgrounds, great restaurants and salt-water beaches. It is also just 10 minutes from downtown Seattle, I-5 and I-90. Sea-Tac airport is about 20 minutes away.
West Seattle’s High Point neighborhood has proven to be the most successful neighborhood makeover in the city’s history and one that has attracted regional, national and international acclaim. When completed in 2010, it will be home to over 4,000 people residing in approximately 1,600 homes.
